Dominique's Bio
Dominique Jean-Jacques, born in Livingston, New Jersey on March 21, 1994, has a passion for singing, dancing and acting. At the age of three, Dominique started taking dance classes in ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. At eight years old she started taking piano lessons, and at 12 began training at a professional acting studio. Now the multi-cultural 15-year-old is poised to perform in all three fields in English, and French
Dominique has performed in over many dance recitals, showcasing her dance training in all four of her studied forms of dance. She has performed in about 10 wedding ceremonies in both Florida and France, singing in either English or French. In June 2006 she had an English-language vocal performance in the “All About You Women Expo” at the Harriet Himmel Theater in West Palm Beach, Florida; and a French-language vocal performance at the “Centre du Travail de Bobigny in France in the summer of 2007. Dominique was the 2006 host of the children’s program Kajou Kids on Kajou TV, a Caribbean television station. She has also participated in many stage plays in her schools and churches.
Dominique acted in her first commercial in 2004, a regional spot for Majestic Boutique which aired in South Florida and online.
Dominique made her movie debut in 2006 in the film Choc Terrible, playing the role of Nikki in English and French. She then landed her first starring role as the titular character in the feature film Isha’s Prayer in 2007 -- she acted in French and English. She recorded her first song “My Dream” which she performed in the movie. It was at that time that Dominique started to further advance her singing career by writing and recording songs at her home studio for her first album entitled Beat of My Heart. The collection of eight English one French, R&B/Pop songs which was released in May 2008.
Dominique is currently and part time employee at John Robert Powers Palm Beach, a talent studio located in West Palm Beach. She began her training there in vocal performance; soap and sitcom acting; poise, professionalism, presentation, improvisation; interpreting top 40 songs; and fashion and modeling.
In January 2008, Dominique received the IPOP (International Presentation of Performers) L. A. singer of the year award in the teen division. IPOP is a week-long competition, held annually in Los Angeles for aspiring singers of all ages. She was also winner of the South Florida Fair Starz of the Future competition in January 2009. She played the role as Taylor Mckessie in Palm Beach Central’s musical High School Musical. She also made a guest appearance at the 2009 Talent Explosion for local artists at the Kravis Performing Arts Center
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling in the U.S. and abroad, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys writing songs and poetry.
